Spirit Days:

Gradebook Open:  Great news!  Our gradebook in Infinite Campus is now open for parents and caregivers to view as grades are entered by your child’s teachers.  Please note that grades on assignments will vary depending on the difficulty of the assignment.  Final grades, which are posted on report cards, will be determined by the teacher based on all the grades received during that trimester.

If you’d like to turn off notifications in Infinite Campus, please utilize the directions below:

How to change grade notification settings:

1:  Log into parent portal

2:  Click the “Person” icon in the top-right corner

3:  Click “Settings”

4:  Click “Notification Settings”

5:  Uncheck  (or adjust the slider as you prefer) for “Assignment is Scored” and/or “Grade is Updated”.

At Valley Park Elementary School, we utilize standards-based grading to guide our reporting of student progress through our gradebook and report cards.  Standards-based grading allows us to show your student’s understanding of standards along a continuum, letting you as a parent know how well they are understanding the standard at that time.

Standards-based grades are as follows:

  • 1 (Minimal),

  • 2 (Developing),

  • 3 (Meeting) and

  • 4 (Exceeding)

To help you understand your child’s progress and their grades, we will be reporting our grades in “real-time” this year.  You will see in the gradebook and on the report card how your student is performing on a particular standard at that moment in time.  Please note:  Because we are reporting in “real time” this year, that score/grade may change on the next assignment or may be different in the gradebook throughout the trimester based on the complexity of the assignments.Students who are on grade level should earn a 3 on each standard by the end of the school year.

On the report card, if a skill, standard or area is not covered at all or at that point in time, you will see a blank box next to that standard.  As we cover standards, you will notice more and more scores in the gradebook. Grades in the gradebook and on the report card are determined by using products of student work, observation, conversation, and performance on assessments.

Please feel free to contact Dr. Monroe  with any questions at 636-923-3632 or jmonroe@vpschools.org
