Over the past two weeks, our preschoolers have embarked on an exciting journey through time, discovering what Earth was like long before humans existed. As part of our science curriculum under the standard "Explore, Investigate, and Solve Problems of the Physical World," they have been uncovering fascinating facts about dinosaurs and the ancient world.
Key Concepts Explored:
Earth is much older than people.
Dinosaurs roamed the planet long before humans.
Scientists study dinosaurs by examining fossils and bones buried in the Earth.
Some animals, like dinosaurs, have gone extinct.
There are different theories about why dinosaurs disappeared, including meteor strikes and volcanic eruptions.
Through hands-on activities, engaging stories and lively discussions, our young learners have been stepping into the shoes of scientists, discovering how clues from the past help us understand the world today. They have examined fossils, imagined what dinosaurs looked like and explored how Earth has transformed over millions of years. Most recently, they built volcanoes and watched them erupt—an experience that left them in awe!
As Silas from the Wonder Class enthusiastically put it, "Wow, this is really ‘lavaly’!" This unit has ignited a deep sense of curiosity in our budding scientists, inspiring them to continue exploring, questioning and uncovering more science mysteries!
