Valley Park School District recently held its much-anticipated Explore U Day on Thursday, October 24th, a day dedicated to helping VPHS students discover new opportunities and connect with their career interests. This year’s event was packed with enriching experiences, taking students beyond the classroom and into the real world for hands-on learning. With thoughtful planning and collaboration students schedules, personalities, and strengths were considered, ensuring that each student had a rewarding experience that aligned with their individual goals. The personalized approach to Explore U Day, led by Ryan Luhning, Meghan Aydelott and Thomas Rauls, made sure that no student was left without a relevant, engaging opportunity and thanks to the thorough planning of the VP staff, the day went off without a hitch.

Ninth-graders enjoyed a shared outing, creating a sense of community among them. While students enrolled in career-specific classes like Principles of Biomedical Science, Medical Innovations, and Design and Enterprise I & II attended experiences directly related to their studies, offering a deeper understanding of their potential career paths.

This day was made possible by a wide range of local organizations that opened their doors to Valley Park students, providing valuable insights into various future choices. Students explored everything from the healthcare field at BJC Hospital to creative environments such as Metro Theatre Company, and even nature-focused sites like Powder Valley Conservation. The diversity of experiences helped students see the many paths they can take beyond high school, all while gaining practical knowledge they can apply to their academic journey.

We are deeply grateful to our community partners, BJC Healthcare, Edward Jones, The Factory, Lindenwood University, St. Charles Healthy Living Center, Metro Theatre Company, The History Museum, Powder Valley Conservation, Logo Daddy, St. Louis Community College, St. Charles Community College, Cortex and Sheet Metal Workers.

Explore U Day 2024 was a day of growth, exploration, and inspiration for Valley Park students. This annual event is a testament to the district’s commitment to providing limitless learning experiences that prepare students for whatever comes next. With the support of the community and a focus on student interests, Explore U Day is a fantastic new tradition that makes Valley Park School District a truly special place to learn.
