limitless learning weekly

This year, Valley Park Elementary added a new science curriculum learning experience centered around STEM education students in grade K-5.for K-5 grades. Science, technology, engineering and mathematics or (STEM) is an interdisciplinary approach that provides that goes beyond simply these subjects. It also integrates reading, writing, and social studies topics, offering students a well-rounded educational experience by integrating . In STEM class, students develop essential 21st-century skills like collaboration, critical thinking, communication, and creativity, which are crucial for their future careers and overall life success. They also learn to navigate challenges and setbacks in a fun and supportive environment.

Elementary STEM Teacher, Michelle Wirick, said, "I am excited to see students realize that their only limits are the ones they set for themselves." When the students were asked what they thought about this new way of learning, Latifa, a fourth grader said, “This exercise was fun but really challenging because we had to try to figure out how to make a tall tower out of spaghetti noodles, string, 3 feet of masking tape and a marshmallow topper. We had a time limit and other constraints or limits that we had to follow which made it even harder.”

This is just the second week of school and already the K-5 STEM classes have proven to be an excellent addition to our elementary school curriculum.
