Congratulations, Miss Bence, VPSD's Teacher Proud Tuesday award winner! Miss Bence teaches third grade at Valley Park Elementary School and received several nominations.
"Ms. Bence makes here class not only a fun learning experience but a safe place to be."
"Upon meeting her we told her that our child got emotional when frustrated. She immediately reassured us that she understood and explained her plans for helping, not handling, a child to cope with this issue. So far it has changed the emotional breakdowns substantially. Some ways she has done this is with a quiet area and Rocks and Socks (our personal favorite)."
"She makes her class want to come in and learn new things. Her approach to learning is great from her interactive reading to STEM projects to Makerspace she has her class thinking all the time. The class has even published a book."
"Our children are second generation students at Valley Park (both Mom and Dad attended) and we have always been excited about the quality of education Valley Park has to offer. Whereas all teachers we have had throughout the years have many special qualities, this year Ms. Bence's teaching style and compassion has really impressed us."
"I’m nominating Ms. Bence for TPT! Ms. Bence is THE definition of teacher proud. I have been in awe of Ms. Bence’s dedication to her teaching and her student connection. My son goes to school every day EXCITED to be in class! Ms. Bence has created a classroom culture of respect and kindness between everyone and holds the students to high standard of such. She also challenges students thinking and introduces them to new concepts while making it fun! I have also first hand seen Ms. Bence’s commitment to her students outside of the classroom too. She says late to attend meetings and ensure her students are best supported. She has also attended multiple sporting events for her students… from some of the hottest days of the year, to bundled up on the sidelines in some rainy/snow. I couldn’t be more thankful for the dedication, support, encouragement, cheerleading Ms. Bence provides her students both in the classroom and outside."
"I love how she brings different ways of learning to her classroom, stem boxes and creation station makes the students learn hands on and uses different parts of their brains. All children learn differently and she seems to get that and has a way for every student to shine!"
"She is absolutely amazing and always goes above and beyond to make sure all of the kids are not only learning, but having fun too! Not to mention her kind heart when my son's lizard passed away. She made a letter and had a sweet stuffed lizard for him. It was the sweetest, most caring thing I've ever seen and we appreciate her so much for all she does! She doesn't just teach, she truly puts her heart into every child. And it doesn't go unnoticed!"
"Jenny creates an inclusive classroom where all students are able to thrive. Some of her students created gifts for another student for their birthday to make him happy. Inclusion and acts of kindness like these contribute significantly to creating a supportive and positive learning environment. Jenny fosters a sense of community and friendship but also allows students to express their creativity in her classroom. That is why I am nominating her for Teacher Proud Tuesday. "
Thank you, Miss Bence for being such a great teacher to our VPES students! You make such a difference each day.
On the second Tuesday of each month, Missouri school districts will recognize a Teacher Proud Tuesday honoree for making a difference in the lives of students. #VPPride
