Prenatal to Kindergarten Entry P.A.T. Program

Welcome to the Valley Park Parents As Teachers Program. Parents as Teachers is offered at no cost to all interested parents in Valley Park School District. We look forward to visiting with you in your home and meeting with you at the Early Childhood Center for parent meetings/group connections. This partnership can help lay a strong foundation for your child's future success in school.
Our programs offer four components:
Personal Visits: Personalized home visits by a certified parent educator, specially trained in child development. The visits include: Parent education about developmental expectations and observation, age-appropriate activities and ideas, and developmental handouts.
Parent Meetings/Group Connections: A time for parents to gain and share new insights from educators, professional presenters, or shared experiences about child development, parenting issues, or learning activities with your child. You may attend as many meetings or activities as you wish.
Developmental and Health Screenings: In-home developmental screenings are offered yearly to assess the child's overall development as well as health, hearing, and vision. Early screenings can help identify areas of difficulty for your child. This allows the parent to provide activities to build skills in weak areas, or seek professional help if necessary.
Referral Networking: Referrals are given at a parent's request to link families to other community services.
